If you have a car

Pay attention because the apartment is located in the Traffic Limited Area where it is not possible to park, it's allowed to enter only:

• in the morning from 8:00 am to 10:30 am, exit until 11:00 am
• In the afternoon from 2:30 pm to 4:30 pm, exit until 5:00 pm

The gates of the ZTL are equipped with cameras that photograph license plates, so even a single minute delay can causes a penalty.

SPECIAL LICENCE - If you need a special licence to enter the old town any time in the days of your arrival and departure just to drop and pick up your luggages send me an email with your name, your arrival and departure days and a picture of the licence plate of your car (rental cars too). You can enter without any problem also if you don’t receive an answer from me, I will take care of it.

Here you are some tips about parking:

Italian rules for parking normally are:

> blue lines for a payment

> white lines for free

> yellow lines for special people (disability, police and local inhabitants etc.)

PAY ATTENTION TO THE YELLOW LINES bordering the historic center and in the harbour area. It is possible to park also along the streets without any specific marked lines but be very careful to the panels and along the seaside.

The main parking for fee is PIAZZALE DELLA PACE (few minutes from the apt, in front of the harbour, for fee in Summer time watch the panles, free in winter time). However going right around the car parking, on via la Marmora, via Catalunya and nearby there are many free white parking spots.

An other large parking area is around the Mercede church PIAZZA DELLA MERCEDE. All these areas are 5/10 minutes from the apartment.

You can find free parking with white lines by looking around the Central Market or around via Gramsci or via Mazzini or via Marconi and in the side streets, or by going towards via Perpignan and via Einaudi or the Lungomare Valencia (but no in front of the Carlos V hotel).

In the blue lines it is always possible to park for free in winter (01/10 - 30/04) from 2 to 4 pm and from 8pm to 9am; in summer (01/06 - 30/09) from 2pm to 5pm and from midnight to 9 am.

There is not covered parking in Alghero for tourists.

Transfer from the airport

A daily shuttle service (run by A.R.S.T buses) connects the airport to the town centre. You can buy tickets from a little machine inside the terminal or directly on the app DROPTICKET (chose the extraurbano ticket). Tickets are very cheap. The bus stop is just outside the terminal on the right.
Time of the first run is at 5:20 then from the 6:00 the bus run every hour, last run at 23:00. It takes around 25 minutes to reach Alghero and you’ll have to stop at the last station in Via Catalogna.

VEHICLES TO BE RENTED

We suggest to have o rent a car, scooter or bike, at least for few days of your stay, to enjoy the best spots in the Alghero surroundings.Make your booking as soon as possible! You may find a limited availability or expensive prices especially in July and August. For a rental the driver must be provided with: credit card (the same that made the payment on line), identity card and driving license.Bicycles can be used quite safely in the city or to get most of the beaches.

PUBLIC AND PRIVATE BUSES TO MAKE TOURS IN THE SURROUNDINGS

A.R.S.T. company: public transport runs well in Alghero. There are many different buses that go from the city to the different beaches and in the nearby locations (ask for timetables to tourist information). For tickets: all authorized retailers (tobacconist's and newsagent's) and at the ticket office of the Main Bus Station (Public Gardens at the corner between Via Catalogna and Via Cagliari). Cattogno Beach Bus is a very good solution: with a €6 daily ticket you can go from Alghero till Capocaccia and drop on and off at anytime (only Summer from the 1° June till the 15° September). Tickets can be purchased directly on the bus. You can enjoy and relax during your visit, before getting back on board at its next passing. Highly recommended!

Trottolo Bus is a very classic and tourists bus but actually it’s a very good deal if you have few time to visit the Alghero coast and no car. The cost is €18 per person but as well the beach bus you’ll visit the most beautiful sights from Alghero till Capocaccia - ticket is valid 24 hours.
